Harold Foss Scholarship
Harold Foss played Little League Baseball when he was growing up.
Harold married Flo Wood and had three boys, Gary, Michael & Steven. Harold wanted his boys to play youth baseball because he cherished the memories of his years in Little League.
At that time there was not a Little League program in our area. One evening in 1974 Harold was discussing with several other gentlemen about how he loved Little League Baseball. The men encouraged Harold to start a Little League program in our area and that is just what he did.
Harold founded Masters City Little League in 1974 with an impressive four teams the first year. In 1976, Masters City Little League was moved to its current location at 1951 Phinzy Road. Two fields were built that year. That same year our Major League Allstar Team went to Southern Regional (the first and only time in our league history). In 1986 another field was built. In 1996, 18 acres of land adjacent to the MCLL complex was acquired with the help of Don Cheeks and in 1997 two more fields were built and all fields received new lights.
Harold Foss’s vision has been realized. Masters City Little League has become an icon in the Augusta community. Not only did Harold provide a venue for his sons but thousands of other children who have played at MCLL. Harold Foss and countless volunteers including Bobby Tiller, Doug Flanders, Don Cheeks, Sonny and Ronald Hoffman, Ron and Mary Kucera have dedicated substantial amount of their Lifes to MCLL.
